Tips for bike ride from Seoul to Busan RIde

What is the recommended tire width?

The bike path from Seoul to Busan ride is well paved througout. However you should expect occassional transitions to gravel and farm road. Both road and gravel bikes are suitable for the most part. However with the loads of backpacks, clothes, and many other travel acccessories, Gravel bikes are our recommendations with thicker tire width ranging from 32-38 mm. 

Are food and water supplies available throughout the Seoul to Busan bike route?

No, some segments along the Seoul to Busan bike route lack food and water supplies. For example, between the Sangju Certification Center and Nakdan Certification Center, there are no available supplies. Be sure to replenish your essentials in Sangju before continuing.

Is a bike computer necessary?

 

We recommend using a bike computer to track your speed, time elapsed, altitude, and cadence. Additionally, consider installing a GPX file on your preferred bike computer for guided navigation. Many GPX files are available online.

For alternative navigation, use your mobile phone with the Naver App or Kakao Map installed. To enhance your safety and convenience, we provide a phone mount free of charge.

What should I do if I encounter a technical issue with the rental bike?

We strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with using a bike repair kit and knowing how to fix a flat tire. You can rent a repair kit, headlamp, and rear light for a fee. Handling minor issues like flat tires is your responsibility.

For more significant technical problems during your ride from Seoul to Busan, contact us through mobile apps such as WhatsApp, Kakao, or WeChat. We’ll work with you to get you back on track as quickly as possible.

Is purchasing the Bike Stamp Passport necessary?

Buying the Bike Stamp Passport is not required but highly recommended. Collecting stamps at certification centers along the route from Seoul to Busan adds excitement and a sense of accomplishment to your journey. The passport typically costs around $4 and can be purchased at certification centers such as Ara West Sea Lock, Gancheonbo, Andong Dam, Sangjubo, Nakdanbo, and Gangjeonggoryeongbo.

Where can I store extra luggage during my bike trip?

We offer secure storage at our shop for your extra luggage during your rental period. There is a one-time fee of $30 for up to 2 pieces of luggage. Alternatively, we can arrange to ship your luggage to Busan for a nominal fee, typically around $100 for 2 large pieces or bike carriers.

What should I do if I miss getting a stamp at a certification center?

No worries! Simply take a photo of the certification stamp center and show it at the next manned certification center to get your stamp.

Can you transport my luggage or bike carriers?

Absolutely, we understand that logistics can vary between plans. We can accommodate any transportation needs for a nominal fee. Just let us know, and we’ll make the necessary arrangements. The cost is usually around $100-$130 up to 2 large luggages or bike carriers.
